Dear Friends,

This Purim was such an unbelievably freilichen holiday at the Centre where my family and I had the chance to celebrate a joyous occasion with so many wonderful people. What makes the holiday of Purim so special is that not only is it all about the incredible connection that we always feel with Hashem, but also an opportunity to feel incredible connections with our friends. Thank you all for coming out to help celebrate!

Today, I had another interesting Purim feeling. As I spent 5 hours in a film studio working on a short film that we are producing for the Founders Dinner, I realized how ironic it is that Purim and acting have a distinct commonality; they are both opportunities to get dressed up. The truth is that of course, there is a big difference. While we are acting, we are pretending to be something or someone that we are not. But on Purim, we are pretending to be someone that we ought to be. The goal of Purim is to find that inner self. Just like the greatness of a grape that is hidden inside the fruit, so too, is the Jewish soul hidden within the person. The holiday of Purim brings out the genuine self that truly reflects the person's soul.

My best wishes to everyone. May you always be completely true to yourselves and to Hashem.

Good Shabbos.

Rabbi Elie
