Chesed Committee
Chesed at the Forest Hill Jewish Centre is all about helping people in both
good times and hard times. The Chesed committee has regular on-going commitments
as well as special events. Regular commitments include arranging a week of meals
for families that have just had a new baby, sending welcome packages to new members
of our community, arranging Shiva meals and helping the sick with food and home visits.
Our special events include clothing drives, food drives and a Chanuka Party at Lincoln
Centre, (a centre for the aged in the heart of Forest Hill).
If ever someone needs support we try to help out in any way we can.
Communication Committee
Communication is the key to a thriving community. We strive to ensure that all members
of the The Centre and the community are aware of our various services, programs and events.
Our major mandates include the weekly newsletter, the website and the membership database.
Social Committee
As the social committee our mandate is to increase recognition of our wonderful synagogue
in the community as well as providing a social outlet for our own members as well as everyone
in the community. We identify and plan two to three major events per year and our goal is to
provide social activities for families and adults in a fun and engaging setting.
Highlighted Events
We planned a very successful annual picnic in the park where we attracted people from all walks
of life in our community. Our Chanukah event ‘Trivikah’ consisted of a fun filled evening of
trivia that challenged everyone’s senses. We are looking to plan a great event for Purim.
